Getting ready for the 30 hour weekend shift; this Jamie Vex’d track definitely facilitates brushing off mental cobwebs in anticipation of upcoming adventures, be they dutiful or bacchanalian. Um, the adventures, I mean. Do work, son.

Night Sky

A restrained down-tempo beat buttressed by lushly echoic house vocals, all of it laced with organometallic detritus… and then, at 1:40, the real goodness drops with ad astra synths and a square bass rocket booster. May the warm weather permit many a gazing night.

capoeira

I’m always a sucker for kid singers and little 8-year-old MC Wesley doesn’t disappoint on this diddy from the mind of French techno/electro producer, Feadz. Get started early this weekend with a French pop-Baile Funk cocktail. For those who feel Baile Funk is so 2006, stick around for 1:22 when he drops somethin’ especiale!

Motorcycle camper

A track off Funkadelic‘s classic album, Maggot Brain. Perfect for a summer road trip mix in the ol’ moto-camper.

On the album ‘Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee’, the artist, Bullion, remixes the Beach Boys using borrowed beats from J-Dilla. I feel this track makes a nice upbeat kickoff to the holiday weekend. What says America better than Brian Wilson mashed up with one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time?
