In honor of MisterTrack’s 2,000th hit we bring you a juicy morsel from the legendary Gaslamp Killer. We’ve been waiting for the right moment to bring him out and Halloween couldn’t be more perfect. This is off his mix titled ‘All Killer: Finders Keepers Records 1-20′. Be sure to check out the rest of this amazing album full of rare uncovered B-Music gems. The first song in the mashup, along with this image, are both from the ’72 movie ‘Sitting Target’.

Paul White’s remix of obscure rapper, Tranqill, sounds like hip hop that’s been run through the wash on the Space Shuttle Atlantis. The crunchy blips, atmospherics, and haunting vocals carry the listener on a fluffy magic carpet ride to the stars.

My introduction to Kool & The Gang was the 80′s hit ‘Celebration’. Since then, I’ve come to enjoy their earlier songs like this downtempo funky number – originally released as the B-side to Jungle Boogie. A good soundtrack to the rainy New York day.

A funky bubbly pick off Architeq’s debut album. If they ever make Karate Kid Part 5, this song should play during the club scene. That or the montage where Daniel’s son visits futuristic Chinatown in search of a mysterious sensei.

An oldie but goodie. This comes off the first of two legendary live sets that DJ Food and DK did for Solid Steel, “Now, Listen!” Live, mind you. The EQ seems a little strange at first, but when The Cinematic Orchestra’s bass line dips low at 0:33, it all makes sense. This is an all time classic Jeru flow, smoothly contextualized here. But the best part of this track, in my mind, is the last minute or so. Around 2:45, everything fades into the oh so jazzy “Beached” by Neotropic, only to drop back the Orchestra’s drums at 3:26 for a crushing, tantalizingly brief ride out. The crude fade at the end comes courtesy of Mister Track; apologies in advance.
