An old school mini-mix, aka medley, from ’59 that combines the big band sound with a spunky accordion and some holiday cheer. The perfect accompaniment to a ski lodge martini, before heading back out to the frosty slopes. Be sure to check out the rest of the album(courtesy of Rob Lanham), ‘Holiday Music for Happy People’.

Been a while. Balearic combo of Will Smith’s lyricism and Lil Wayne’s production literalism, smoothed out for the late night lounge lizard in all of us. No, really, it’s good. Apologies in advance to those of you already bombarded by the jj blog excitement, but this had to be done.

A happy little tune off Kelpe’s ’08 album, Ex-aquarium. It’s like Boards of Canada with caffeine, and grey clouds instead of rain. Notice the chord breakdown from 0:21-0:39 when tension builds for the fatty synth melody. You just wanna bite into those taffy-textured notes.

With it’s wah wah guitar and laid back vocals, this hazy pop track from Bibio brings back memories of the recent summer. It also serves the cold rainy day just fine. Another solid offering from the Warp Records catalog.

Warm fuzzies coming your way from Sorcerer. The song is perhaps a tad repetitive, but the 80s synth chord response is such melted buttery goodness you can’t help but get hooked. You can almost picture Crocket and Tubbs driving a shiny sports car into the Miami sunset. That or a summertime dog diving in slow motion for a ball.
