To celebrate numero 50, Mr. track is pleased to bring you a rather melancholy selection from Icelandic producer, Yagya. An apt companion to the cold drizzly New York Monday, his velvety soundscapes remind us of a cosmic dub version of The Field. So crank up the headphones, close the shades, and prepare the sensory deprivation chamber.
Here’s a long player off their EP, Fall Be Kind. The initial build stretching from space birds to descending keys is quite lovely. The remainder of the track takes you along the requisite Animal Collective spiritual mini-journey, ending back in nebulous clouds.
Caribou offers this good-natured little taster of his forthcoming album, Swim(out April 16th). We’ve followed Dan Snaith ever since his he was known as Manitoba in the early 00′s. His last album in ’07, Andorra, showed the world that adding a Producer’s personal vocals to a project could actually be a good thing. It remained in heavy Mr. T rotation for some time, and even became popular with our friends who normally scoff at “electronic music”. On this track, the high refrain, bells, and bass line bring to mind the joyful days of roller skating parties. And after a day like today, you deserve an upbeat theme for the commute home.
