Just discovered an amazing album series by the group, Pye Corner Audio, called the Black Mill Tapes. If you like dark synthy syrupy 70′s-80s soundtrack stuff, then you’ll love these guys. Their sound brings to mind lots of Mr. T favorites such as Tangerine Dream, John Carpenter, Low Motion Disco, and Boards of Canada. Enjoy!

We can’t resist posting a second medley from our favorite holiday album, Holiday Music for Happy People, by Bobby Roberts. Such a warm festive sound that makes you long to experience childhood back in the 50s, or at least a Mad Men era cocktail party. This will be on Mr. T. shuffle for the next few days. Happy holidays to all!

Biosphere’s, Geir Jenssen, released a sensuous new album N-Plants earlier this year. While traveling in Japan, he noticed all their nuclear power plants were built on beautiful seaside locations inside of earthquake and tsunami zones. His compositions were eventually inspired by this delicate balance between man-made and natural forces. Little did he know how prophetic his efforts would be, as the disaster struck just months after he finished the album.

This little ditty from Canadian producer, Lunice, has been our recent go-to track. Fuzzy 8-bit sounds and snappy Mad Decent-esque beats are a favorite Mr. Track cocktail. Now upload the mp3 to your device, go outside, and enjoy the last of the summer weather!

We discovered the gem that is, Vivien Goldman, on the compilation Disco Not Disco – Post Punk, Electro & Leftfield Classics 1974-1986. She only released a few tracks and one EP but went on to co-found The Flying Lizards, write songs for Massive Attack, and now teaches punk and reggae at NYU! This track from ’81 truly foretold the dub craze of today, only now we find ourselves missing that 80s earnestness.

Here’s a taste from the beautiful classical/glitch album, 7fingers. It’s a good example of a project where these two genres fit together without drowning each other out. The resulting effect is like being lulled to sleep with coffee.

Bringing you a switch up from the standard Mr. T tracks – vocals! Ok, maybe depressing vocals, but a voice nonetheless. The new Peaking Lights album, 936, has been in heavy rotation the past few weeks. Indra Dunis’ voice is hypnotic to say the least(kind of a Midwestern version of Nico on heroine and singing in key). The group’s sound, a potent cocktail of psychedelic, dub, and garage pop, leaves one nostalgic for past eras but eager for future rituals.

We’re very excited to bring you a selection from Siriusmo’s first official LP release! Just out yesterday on Monkeytown Records. The track gives one the sensation of riding a demented and frenetically precise musicbox through a miniature blackhole.

Recently discovered a few smooth tracks from a guy called Snoretex, aka Sam Willis. He’s part of the talent behind Kompakt’s group Walls, and the music blog allez-allez. We’ve been seeking the Low Motion Disco sound for a while now, and this brings that steadily creeping bassline combined with a Boards of Canada sensibility. For those lazy Sunday nights spent gazing at the sunset, or your neighbor’s backyard.

Here’s a beautifully arranged Four Tet remix to kick off the new year. A series of effortless transitions that float past like pages in a book.
